About The Artist
Keir Dahlke is a genderqueer Toronto based designer/artist focused on creating intricate, high fashion pieces of chainmaille jewelry.
Keir holds the belief that good design and good quality are synonymous, which is why they take great care to control the quality of every possible element of their designs. Keir buys wire directly from a North American factory, then hand winds and saw cuts it into rings. They then painstakingly assemble and reassemble every single ring into just the right configuration.
Keir has always seen the world slightly differently; constantly taking things apart, rearranging and reassembling—a trait that makes them suited to figuring out the mechanical workings of things and to appreciating good design. Housebound with illness for years, Keir used the time to further explore and develop their creative endeavours and re-engaged an old fascination from childhood: chainmaille. Self taught, Keir incorporates both European style and Japanese style chainmaille, with their own personal approach.
